How are the heated elements powered?

Gamma’s heaters are powered by any power bank. There is an input USB A cable inside the inner chest pocket that you can plug into a heater. Once plugged in, you can activate one of the three heat settings.

Benefits of this approach: 1) Universal battery compatibility: you can use any power bank, your own, your friends, or just hop into a store to recharge! 2) Flexible choices in power bank size: you can use a smaller and lighter power bank for shorter trips or large ones that will last you days with a bigger one. 3) Charge your phone / devices inside the inner chest pocket: since it’s still a power bank, you can keep all your electronics in one pocket near one of the heaters, which will help them stay warm and keep battery life optimal. You can also keep your phone charged easily since your charger is right there 4) Machine washable: no electronics or batteries you need to worry about

Will you be selling a power bank to go with the Gamma?

Yes, at the end of the campaign we will be offering them as add-on options!

What's the expected run time of the Gamma heated elements?

Depends on your power bank. Check out our estimates on our campaign page. Using a big enough power bank and a lower heating setting it can last quite a while!

Does Gamma come with a compass?

That’s just a prop! Gamma does not come with a compass, though our pockets will fit a lot of compasses :)

Will you have any other colors other than black?

As of April 29: Short Answer: Not likely. Medium Answer: Not for the pre-order batch of production. Long Answer: We are most likely not going to offer any colors other than black.

We have been surveying customers from day 1 about additional color options they’d like. As of today (April 29), the overwhelming majority of customers are fine with black.

Graphene is naturally black and extremely difficult and expensive to dye. Every color variation has to be a dedicated process for that. Unlike our competitors Gamma has actual graphene fibers in it. So adding new colors will be a difficult endeavor, though we’ve been trying from day 1 to try to at least 1, possibly 2 new colors.

The most popular colors ironically are the colors that are the most difficult to dye and synthesize.

Because of the unknown additional costs as well as very significant production delay, at this juncture, with only a few weeks left until the campaign ends, we are deprioritizing offering additional colors.

However, we ARE still interested in offering additional colors in the near future. For those of you that do NOT want black, we strongly recommend holding off your order, though once we offer those additional colors we would probably offer only at retail prices in limited quantities due to the additional costs involved.

How much is shipping?

Right now fulfillment prices fluctuate significantly and we are trying to lock in a very high volume rate once prices are low. Because of this it’s tough to put a specific number, as we don’t know with any specificity the number of backers/shipments per country until the end of the campaign.

Generally globally it is $20-40 / unit per jacket, with price per jacket dropping per jacket you order. Check out our regularly updated shipping table below.

While we would like to offer free shipping, we specifically priced our jackets to make sure we will be able to manufacture and fulfill with strong finances rather than get bogged down trying to cut corners and be unable to manufacture on time or a lower quality product.

Last updated May 20th (no change from May 17th shipping prices)

Shipping pricing table: USA: $30-35 USD Canada / Mexico: $35-40 USD EU: $30-40 USD (higher prices to less common shipping routes in Eastern and Northern Europe) Africa / MEA: $30-40 USD South America: $35-45 USD Asia: $20-35 USD

Should I size up?

We STRONGLY recommend sizing up. Gamma is great for layering up, so you should leave some extra room for layering (and winter weight gain)!

Will the heaters be plugged into USB A or USB C ports?

We will only be offering USB A ports. There are a couple reasons for this:

1) Our current supply chain and timelines assume USB A. Unfortunately at this stage it would take too long to re-work the entire jacket to make this work in time to meet our shipping targets.

2) Virtually every power bank out there currently have at least 1 USB A output port, whereas it’s still a small minority of newer power banks that have USB C output ports. We strongly believe using USB C will limit the universality / flexibility of the Gamma regardless of the benefits of the USB C connection.

That said, we will be offering USB A to USB C connectors as an add-on for those of you with USB-C output only devices.

Where will you ship out of?

We will be shipping from our warehouse in Shenzhen, China and another one in California, USA.

While we had plans to ship out of the EU, due to the tight shipping and production timeline as well as inflexibility of managing size exchanges and servicing, we will NOT have a warehouse out of the EU.

However, we are still actively looking and will update you all if this changes.

BackerKit FAQ

What is BackerKit?

BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!

The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.

How does BackerKit work?

After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.

I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?

The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.

Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.

To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.

How do I update my shipping address?

BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.

When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?

That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.

I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?

As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
